This is a friendly reminder that ALL IB MYP 10th graders MUST complete the Personal Project via their English 2 classes.

Currently, the Fall classes are working on this task.

Students have access via the Personal Project Canvas Course. 

Over the Thanksgiving Break, they are encouraged to wrap up Module A - Planning. 

We will move into Module B - Applying Skills on Monday, November 29th. 

IB MYP Academic Probation Status Letters were sent to those students who failed 1 or more classes for Quarter 1. 

Students remain on probation for the entirety of Quarter 2 and must meet the specified criteria within the letter to be removed.

​Parent/Guardians were copied on those letters.

Hope everyone is doing well. We are a few weeks away from the start of the school year.  Here are a few updates. 

Update 1
Thank you to those who have completed Step 2 DPS Online Enrollment for new and returning students to officially enroll/register your child for the upcoming 2020-2021 school year. If you didn't receive an email, please visit dpsnc.net for the link.  

Update 2
Thank you to those who have completed Step 3 Hillside IB Statement of Intent and 9th grade Course Registration Form; I will be in contact with those individual families who haven't, as a friendly reminder that this information is needed as soon as possible.  The counselors will be in touch for the incoming 10th graders for course selection.  

Grateful am I for your choosing Hillside High School's International Baccalaureate Programme for the 2020-2021 school year.  Continuing with my building the proverbial plane while flying it analogy, -You all have stayed the course and our flight is steadying itself for the next leg.

I do ask that if you know for certain that you will attend your base school for the 2020-2021 and wish to now decline the accepted magnet lottery seat, that you will have to go through DPS Office of Student Assignment.  They will in turn inform me of their decision to accept or deny your request; until then, I shall keep you on the email listserv to ensure you are abreast of the latest happenings.  

Update 3
Our illustrious principal, Dr. William T. Logan, III shared a "Summer Update" message this evening. I have downloaded the message for your convenience and attached it to this email.  If you directly received the email, that is great so you are abreast of the happenings.  These messages are labeled as School Messenger and will come from DPS or from HHS. I encourage you to bookmark them once you begin to receive them.  


It is important that you ensure accurate contact information is housed on the DPS Online Enrollment PowerSchool Portal. This is a main source of information, especially now that we will be in a virtual environment.  

Please be sure to thoroughly listen to the attached message.  Key talking points pertain to 1) school start date 2) remote learning 3) Chromebook distribution 4) contact info 5) virtual Open House 6) suspension of athletics and 7) virtual band camp
